[It had been a pretty sucky week. Tsuzuki doesn't want to show Hisoka the letters Yuri left for them when she was sent home. He suspects his partner is taking her disappearance hard enough as it is. But what is he supposed to do?]

[The answer is to pretend there's no problem. He taps his pen on the paper as he thinks, turning to the journal eventually.]

Out of curiosity, if you could only choose one word to describe your best friend, what would it be?

[He fluffs Hisoka's wing playfully.]

I'm not that old! How mean.

[Mostly he's just amused that Hisoka's in a good mood.]

What do they call the western game that reminds of Go?

Sure you're not.

[He'll allow that too.]

Who cares? It's just mundane and watered down.

It would be nice, wouldn't it?

If we could end the war simply by eliminating our enemies, that would be the best for everyone - including our country. But even if we walk a path to our own destruction, I'll stay at his side.

... depends on what you mean by a lot. I like the people I've met so far, and I like to think they're good friends...

[Whether or not they think the same of him, he doesn't really know for sure. There's a brief, awkward pause before he suddenly adds in:]

Does it really matter if we have a lot of friends?

[All this sudden acceptance of playfulness is very strange. Tsuzuki takes advantage of it, waiting expectantly for Hisoka to snap. In the meantime, he starts to cuddle his wings.]

I know that, but it would be nice to learn it anyway. It's not like a lot of people here know Go.

I don't know. Having some good friend makes life easier.

Yeah. Whether it's a lot or just one person...

I think it's better just having someone there when you need them. [Another pause.] I mean, that versus having no one at all... I'd take having one or two good friends.

You can't give up hope. They might come from a different world that simply sounds like yours.

Stay at his side?

Perhaps. If nothing else, I know how to change the future, even if it means destroying theirs.

[And he has no qualms with that at all, which is kind of sad.]

He is my friend. This path is the one he chose.

So teach people.

I'm not sure if I remember all the rules. You remember them, right?

Of course I do. I'll have to refresh your memory sometime soon.

'Kay! Well, I guess determined would probably cover a lot of 'em, now that I think about it. Still, only one of my friends is here at the moment - he's the grouchy one, but he's not that bad once you get to know him!

I'd like that.

[His mind slowly goes to a slightly more romantic state, but as he notices it he is reminded of Muraki and backs off. Nothing stops a fluffy mood like a crazy doctor.]

Anyway, do you ever play any games here?

[His head quirks at that. Wait Muraki what? That doesn't make any sense at all.]

I don't normally, no. ....Tsuzuki, are you feeling all right?

We could see if there are some games we could learn together.

[It's not something he dwells on. It's just a thought he's developed to keep from going to That Place in his thought, and as far as aversion therapy goes it's quite effective. No one wants to be reminded that they're doing the same thing as Muraki, after all.]

Yeah, I'm okay.

I doubt any Western game could possibly hold the same finesse and skill required.

[Except no how did Muraki even get involved in this equation?]

You don't feel okay. Is there something you needed to talk about? [See? See how he's offering to talk? This is progress.]

Maybe not, but we might have fun with them anyway.

[It's a way for keeping away from thoughts related to romance, since those make Hisoka so uncomfortable. If he reminds himself that it's a doomed romance, like the one Muraki tried to get with him, the feelings freeze in their tracks and his desire to flirt simply wilts away.]

[Tsuzuki simply shrugs, giving him a warm smile. He does appreciate the question, even though he's not ready for progress yet.]

I feel okay now. Don't worry about it, okay?

[Nope. It's not the time to be talking about games. Hisoka's going to let that end of the conversation die away.]

I'm your partner. It's my job to worry about it.

[But he wanted to talk about games. :( Instead he rubs Hisoka's shoulder, since his partner seems to be so concerned.]

There's nothing to worried about here, is there?

.... Maybe not. [But he's definitely going to be keeping an eye on that.]

Why don't we head out to the item shop to see if they have any proper Japanese games?

[Depending on what they talk about, it might show up in his thoughts later. But it's not something he consciously thinks about anymore.]

Great! I bet they have some. They have a lot of other Japanese things, anyway.

[Grateful for the distraction, he gets up and waits for Hisoka to follow suit.]

They don't have nearly enough. It took me months to find a proper tea set.

I bet that they gave away most of the tea sets to the tea shop. No wonder you couldn't find any.

Could be. [That tea shop is so awesome though D:] It didn't exist the last time I checked.
