Fuda # 4 [Action/video] Failure is the only option

[OOC: Pretend I posted this days ago! D: Tsuzuki had a little run-in with River earlier. Being him, he thought he'd limp stagger walk the injuries off on the way home. He's still kind of dazed about all of it, really. It might just be the blood-loss speaking.]

[The feed comes on by accident, showing a very quiet shinigami. He's carrying one wing under his arm as if it was a newspaper, and his shirt is no longer white. Tsuzuki winces as he bends down to untie his shoes, but he'd determined to be as quiet as he can about going inside.]

I don't know if it's that easy for us to reattach limbs. [It hadn't been when Hisoka had to regrow his eye and arm, thanks so much Sargatanas.] We can try, though. [And then he busies himself with accepting the severed wing from Tsuzuki's grip and marrying it with the rest of his body, bandaging it tightly to hold it in place.]

[He avoids eye contact, primarily because he's trying not to hear Tsuzuki's thoughts more loudly than he has to.] No. She won't get away with it.

[Action] Grumbly over what? Having all your limbs is a great way to start/end the day!

I guess we'll find out. [Tsuzuki would have squirmed, but knows Hisoka would have a hard time bandaging it if he wouldn't stay still. Unfortunately, it itches painfully as it tries to heal.]

[Tsuzuki's fingers touch his partner's tenderly, as he gives up on making eye contact. He still thinks Hisoka's too young to focus on revenge. Still, he understands why, and is slightly touched by it.] Don't go out tonight, please.

[Action] Just the usual workstress was a little magnified yesterday. No big, I promise!

[He flinches a little from Tsuzuki's discomfort. Once he's done with the bandages, he returns to petting the good wing. It always makes him feel better when Tsuzuki does it to him, at least.]

[But Hisoka's been focused on revenge for years now! This is nothing unusual.] If not tonight, then soon.

[Action] awww. Poor Jess. *glomps and bakes cookies*

[It feels good, and Tsuzuki makes no effort to hide it. He'd arch up into the touch, like a cat, if he could, because he's shameless about what brings him pleasure. Still, he lies as quietly as he can. Tsuzuki suspects that Hisoka will stop petting him if he mentions it.]

[True, but Tsuzuki is bracing himself for the inevitable time when Hisoka's had his final revenge.] We really should look for the other victims.

[That suspicion would be 100% correct! But Hisoka persists nonetheless, since it seems to be taking Tsuzuki's mind off his injuries. And really, that was the intent of the action in the first place. He slides onto the bed to sit beside his partner, soothed even as he is in the process of soothing.]

[When that time comes, Tsuzuki will be there to pick up the broken pieces Hisoka will invariably shatter into. :D] ...You shouldn't be moving yet. [Selfish empath is selfish. He'll have time to regret his decisions later.]

[Does Hisoka realize how long it's been since someone's petted Tsuzuki without being creepy? Because he doesn't, and he kind of thinks Hisoka's wonderful for doing it, particularly since he's so bothered by touching in general. He inches slightly to the side, giving Hisoka more room to sit, and hopefully more room to continue.] If you say so. ...Thank you.

[He definitely will be. :D Taking care of someone else is so selfish. ♥ Sadly, Tsuzuki knows how to screw up sweet moments.] Er, Hisoka. I think I got blood on your sheets. But if you want, you can sleep in my bed tonight.

[This touch is entirely different than the kind that bothers him. This is the touch as it was in Kyoto, the gentle strength that Hisoka manages best when Tsuzuki is most in need of it. He settles down and continues, prepared to keep repeating the motion until Tsuzuki didn't need it anymore.]

[He's picking Tsuzuki over people who are potentially hurt worse, and who most likely need more help than Tsuzuki had required. That's plenty selfish.] ..It's just sheets. [There's a "you're more important" implied in that.]

[The feeling of being cared about like that is addictive. Tsuzuki closes his eyes and basks in it while he can, since in his experience it rarely lasts long. Funnily enough, he's at a loss about what to do with his hands, since he's usually reciprocating. He glances at them, and notices the dried blood on them. It's only his own, but it still shocks him in a bad way. Hisoka's gentle touch grounds him again, keeping him stable.] Are you sure this is all right? Your empathy--

[Tsuzuki notices, but like he'll he'd call Hisoka out on it. Instead he calms down further, a ghost of blush on his cheeks. He's grateful he gets to see this side of Hisoka occasionally. It makes it all worth it.]

[Action] ...I think you might have to fight a couple of people for that. :( I'm sharing custody.

--my empathy is fine. [He pulls his attention away from the wing to grip Tsuzuki's hand in both his own.] You're fine, okay? You haven't done anything wrong.

[Tsuzuki squeezes one of Hisoka's hand, glad for the contact.] If you're sure.

[With Hisoka's attention now off his wings, he tries to sit up, slowly. He's being completely honest for once, so his voice is hesitant.] Then why does it feel like I did something wrong?

[Action] Um... I'll ask Tai and Ty! :D also YOUR ICON IS BLINKING AT ME.

[It takes a minute for Hisoka to answer, mostly spent fretting over Tsuzuki's change in position and how it might impact the wounded wing. Once it's clear that Tsuzuki will stay upright, he pauses to consider the question at hand.] ...Because you wanted to save her.

[Action] Yay! :D Ffff First time I saw it it did that I freaked.

[It's clear he's not planning on staying upright for long, he did it for a reason. But his back aches and his wing still itches, so he's planning on lying down again.] Yeah, I did. [The truth hurts, so Tsuzuki leans forward until his forehead touches Hisoka's.]

I'm glad you weren't one of those she cut down. [With that said, Tsuzuki pulls back from the unconventional caress, and moves to lie down again.]

...Tsuzuki... [Hisoka turns a dark pink at the brief contact, and very visibly has no idea what to do about it. When Tsuzuki pulls away, be adjusts his own position enough for Tsuzuki's head to rest comfortably on his lap.] You don't have to say that. I would've been fine.

[Tsuzuki doesn't need more encouragement to use Hisoka's lap as a pillow. It lessens his chances to touch his partner, however, so he reaches for Hisoka's fingers. He sounds a little drowsy when he replies.]

[He lets Tsuzuki grab for him, though his expression becomes a little less readable.] As long as you want.

[Satisfied that Hisoka's hand is there, he subsides to simply run his fingers across the palm once. Closing his eyes comes naturally after that, and even his wing droops.] Thank you, Hisoka.

[Hisoka doesn't reply with words. Instead, he allows Tsuzuki to get as comfortable as he'd like, happy to sit with him until Tsuzuki was done getting rest.It was the only ay he'd ever heal properly.]

[Tsuzuki would have fallen asleep. The warm bed is certainly tempting enough, but he doesn't want Hisoka to not being able to get up because his lap is pinned down. He stays silent, looking up to see what kind of mood his partner is in. That way he'll know whether or not he's worn out his welcome.]

[Not tonight. Not after he'd been so worried, then so relieved. Even if it was stupid to be so frantic in a place where death and resurrection meant nothing. It was taxing, and it was nearly over.

Hisoka leaves a hand interlaced with Tsuzuki's while the other returns to the good wing, stroking his fingers through the feathers and carefully straightening them. Tsuzuki needed someone to take a comb to his wings or something anyway.]

[Tsuzuki's feathers probably does need to be worked over, but he's oblivious to it. They're doomed to become as messy as his hair at this rate.

His good wing arches up into Hisoka's touch as Tsuzuki's eyelids slide shut. He can understand why Hisoka likes having his wings touched, if it feels like this. That is the last real thought he forms before falling into a slumber in Hisoka's lap.

If he had paid more attention, he would have noticed that his other wing had stopped itching, but that would mean having to tell his partner and get up.]

[They absolutely will not. Hisoka isn't about to listen to Draco poke fun of Tsuzuki's disheveledness if it can be at all avoided.

It's just that having Tsuzuki there, so close and so relaxed and so open, is starting to subtly affect Hisoka's pace. His petting slows significantly under the weight of Tsuzuki's drowsiness.]

[His dedication to appearing cool to Draco is commendable. Whether Hisoka works up the nerve to comment on Tsuzuki's appearance/wings in time, on the other hand...

Still not entirely asleep, Tsuzuki's hand squeezes Hisoka's. He feels like home, and belonging, and everything would be okay if-

A door closes loudly in the building and Tsuzuki jolts awake. It takes him a few seconds to realize where he is, since it's not his bed, nor on the desk during lunch.]

Ah... 'Soka?

[Tsuzuki rubs his eyes to wake up fully, then offers Hisoka a crooked smile. He feels much better already.] Not sure. I can go and take a look. [It's his knee-jerk reaction to offer comfort when his partner isn't calm, after all.]

[Damn you and your damn panic, Tsuzuki. Hisoka takes a quivering gasp and tries to force his own heartrate to slow.] Don't panic over nothing! Have more consideration than that! [he shoves Tsuzuki's shoulder hard, primarily upset at himself for letting his defenses down far enough to synchronize that completely with Tsuzuki in the first place.]
