Well, I haven't seen anyone without them.

I haven't seen anyone with them before I came here. It's not common to have wings.

Guilmon had wings before sometimes, but only when I used the White Wings card. And some of the other digimon had wings too.

It still feels kind of strange to have wings when I'm only myself.

What is a digimon?

It's short for digital monster. Digimon... digimon are like living dreatures made out of data instead of DNA.

It's a helpful spirit that can take the shape of monsters when you call for them. They used to only exist in myths, then they had to hide in the digital world to survive. Does that sound similar to a digimonster?

Maybe a little? I mean, most digimon don't like humans very much. But some of them come to the real world to find partners.

It was kind of accident. I drew a picture and he became real. Mr. Shibumi told me once that he thought we might have dreamed each other into existence.

That's the way it is with shikigami, as well. It takes a lot of luck and patience to be able to tame one. Except, the difference is that the humans have to go into their world to bond with them, not the other way around.

That sounds pretty neat. So it's possible for dreams to come true, where you come from?

Jen thought once that the digimon came to our world because they were looking for something they couldn't find in the Digital World. That that was why Terriermon and Renamon and Impmon came to find partners. But some of my other friends didn't find their partners until we went to the Digital World.

Sometimes. If we believe in our friends and in ourselves. And if we really wish for something. Sometimes the Digignomes will grant a wish. That's how Guilmon was born. And that's how we learned how to evolve together,

That sounds really wonderful. It must be good, to be able to get wishes granted like that. What does it take for you to evolve? Is there some kind of sacrifice involved?

It was still hard, though. We had to fight a lot, and a lot of awful things happened. A wish... it can't fix anything.

Sometimes. Guilmon can evolve several times. He uses my energy to become Growmon. But to become MegaloGrowmon we use a blue card, and I feel everything that happens to him. It's like we use the same energy. And to become Dukemon we evolve together and fight together as one person. Everything that I am becomes a part of him.

...But we can only become Dukemon Crimson Mode sometimes. Because Grani gave us his wings.

No, I suppose not. It's a shame that there's so much fighting.

I guess? I mean, we're best friends. It's always been like that.

I'm really sorry to hear that. At least he gave you something you'll always remember him by.

Yeah. I miss my other friends, but I'm glad that Guilmon is with me here. We've always been able to do anything as long as we were together.

I know the feeling. How many friends of yours are you hoping will show up here?

Guilmon is probably just as happy to see you as you were to see him.
