[It's a beautiful, sunny day. The temperature is apparently between "boiling point" and "molten lava", and every sane person is inside, hugging their air conditioner.]

[Except for this guy. Tsuzuki is searching the grass outside House 49. He looks downright distressed, sitting on his knees and brushing his fingers through the lawn and dirt. When he's down with one patch, he hurries to the next one, not caring much about the heat even though his body does.]

It has to be around here somewhere...

Well, I could give you an exact figure, but that doesn't take into account all the ones who appear normal.. so I'm not sure what use it'd be.

[His smile falters a little bit as his thoughts return to the more depressing matters surrounding Luceti]

I don't suppose you're that crazy anyways.. you smell a little funny, but everyone here does.

I don't think I smell funny. Maybe if I take a shower....

[James gives a bark of laughter]

I guess I haven't smelled any "normal" humans since I got here, so I may be doing you injustice, sorry [The name comes out a little awkwardly on his tongue] Tsuzuki.

[Tsuzuki tilts his head, suddenly curious.]

It's all right. How good is your sense of smell, exactly?

Well, I'm not really sure. I can adapt my nose however I want, so I guess I could smell everywhere a persons ever been in the last few weeks if I wanted to.. and if it hasn't rained.

[Oh shi- didn't mean to give away that much info, little wide eyed at that]

Really? [Sorry, now that kind of info gets Tsuzuki's attention really quickly. He looks him straight in the eye.] Can you smell whether or not people have been recently kidnapped?

Errr, uhh. You mean by one of the robot bouncer dudes?

[Oh dear, straight in the eye, small nervous scientist is small and nervous.]

Yeah. Or rather, how people smell after they've been in the hospital. That's what I imagine they probably smell like when they return.

[Tsuzuki gives into temptation and reaches over to pat James' head. He couldn't help it, he liked fuzzy animals and scientists, and he doesn't like it when people are nervous around him.]

[James is really not sure how to deal with this, no one has ever... patted... him before. In response to his "WTF CONFUSION INNER TURMOIL MAELSTROM" his ears sorta... wobble confusedly, his reply coming out a little broken]

Uh.. well... Y-yeah, I guess. You'd have to give me something to lo-.. smell for, but once I know what you want to find I can usually find it. [James's taking a step back now, the patting was definitely weirding him out.]

[Tsuzuki tends to be a very physical person, but he'll try not to touch James if he acts too shyly around him. He pulls his hand back and hides them both on his back.]

So your sense of smell is that good. Is your hearing enhanced, as well?

Well, uhhh, yeah. By the same degree I guess, if you're comparing it to 'normal' human standards.

[His ears were still twitching from the pets, he's definitely bamboozled about this kid]

[Tsuzuki has that effect on a lot of people he meets.]

I am. It makes things easier, since most of the people I talk with are humans. Usually.

Well, but I'm a-...[If he had been in a worse mood, that might have made him cry. As is he's not going to press the point] Forget it.

Why do you want to know this anyway?

[Tsuzuki really feels like he made a blunder, although he hadn't meant to. He blinks quickly, a look of gentle concern on his face.] No. Please. You are... ?

Why shouldn't I want to get to know you better?

[James holds his hands up and waves them in a sort of, "Don't worry about it" kind of way] It's nothing.

Well, it's a pretty specific question, I just assumed you wanted to know so you could ask me for help with something... or something.
