[Later in the same day, Tsuzuki does some groceries. Just because he has to take care of Hisoka and Draco at home doesn't mean he can avoid those chores. He studies his note seriously, wondering where he can find olive oil and cheese. If anyone wants to run into him, now is the chance.]

Why would I do background checks on my partner?

In case something possessed him or the like. Why is that strange?

But I already know his background. [And the less they talk about it, the better.]

You're right, though. I should take better care so he's not vulnerable to demons.

[He's just looking over the note though.] ...I can't believe him. What the hell made him think he could handle this by himself?

[He shrugs, feeling guilty. Tsuzuki knows why Hisoka feels like he has to prove himself. It makes it difficult to back him up, because Hisoka thinks Tsuzuki is part of the problem.]

His pride makes it difficult for him sometimes. I wish he had let me come along.

...it's best you didn't, lest the vampire ended you as well. Then where would we be? [He sighs and hands the note over though. He also can't exactly comment on the pride issue. He's got his own ball of pride issues.] So...can we fix him?

[That's unexpected. Tsuzuki smiles crookedly, showing a rare self-confidence.] Draco, I know how to deal with vampires.

[But he knows that's partly the reason Hisoka wants to prove himself so badly. It makes him feel responsible somehow.]

I hope so. We will just have to try.

I know enough. Before Hisoka became my partner, I had several run-ins with them.

[He considers his answer.] What I know isn't important. It's just important to remember that they're victims, first and foremost.

...and so why doesn't he get that? [Yeah. He's still harboring some negative feelings toward Hisoka for basically threatening Caroline. And for the interrogation even before that.]

You know why. It's easier to think of everything in black and white. [Tsuzuki puts his hands in his pockets. It's not something he's ever talked about with other people, so he's not sure if he's allowed to.] You should have seen the way he treated me when he thought I was a vampire.

I think that if he hadn't been distracted, he would have killed me.

I was just wondering if Hisoka had told you how they kept chasing me out of the library.

Hisoka rarely tells me anything about you, even when I ask. Rather noble of him, and irritating at the same time.

That's... [He grins and shakes his head. When he replied, there's a mischievous look in his eyes.] Have you considered that he may not say anything because I'm boring?

If you were that boring, I highly doubt he'd stay here.
