Uhm, I'm by a forest. I can see a village to my right, and there's a gigantic, unpleasant beehive to my left. [He isn't speaking quickly, not at all.] Are you far from here?

Oh it's just a beehive get over it. You're a shinigami. [The words are delightful, delicious habit.] I'm in that village you're seeing. Has someone already been leading you around?

The bees doesn't know that! They still come after me. [Pouts, but it's clearly only for show.]

Some people have said they'd come around. I met Hijiri! Are there other people we know in the village?

Good to know you're still completely helpless.

Hijiri'll bring you back fine. My room's on the second floor. Door's open. Don't take forever. [Because getting hold of a tangible, concrete, actually-there Tsuzuki is more important than any other questions he might have.]

I'm not helpless, I just don't like bees!

I'm sure he will. I won't take long, I promise. [And Tsuzuki has more or less forgotten the questions he had. Temporarily. Getting to Hisoka is doubtlessly the top priority.]

Because you're helpless.

Bees and I have been natural enemies ever since I discovered sugar. They don't count!

I think I know which house you live in. Let me check with Hijiri.

It is!

[silence, except the sound of someone running up the stairs. And the faint sound of knocking.]

[Why does Tsuzuki have to be so damn loud all the time?? He's never really mastered indoor behavior.And yet, even with the knocking, Hisoka still refuses to let himself believe that Tsuzuki's really been taken with him. Not until he opens the door and stops. He stares, long and hard.]

[And then he's launched himself against Tsuzuki, clinging tightly to him as if he'll disappear he Hisoka dared let go. When he speaks, it's muffled by Tsuzuki's chest.]

Stupid. How'd you let your guard down long enough for them to catch you too?

[He barely had time enough to prepare himself, but after Hisoka threw himself into his arms, Tsuzuki wrapped his arms around his partner's body. Hisoka very rarely allowed himself to touch anyone willnigly, so Tsuzuki knew how precious this time was.]

I missed you too, Hisoka.

What do you mean, captured?

[He moved his hand up Hisoka's back, as if to comfort, and drew his palm gently against a wing. Tsuzuki was momentarily surprised, then remembered that it was the norm here. And since they were a part of Hisoka, he didn't mind.]

[The contact brought warmth to places Hisoka had let grow terribly, unbearably cold. He lingers a bit longer than what's absolutely necessary.]

I mean we're trapped here. Can't leave.

[He doesn't seem to mind the hand on his wings, though they do droop a bit as the tenseness drains from him.]

[Tsuzuki knew that he's probably not shielding very well. It had been too long since he had seen Hisoka, and the welcome he had gotten had all but made him melt. Small tingles of happiness went through him.]

Oh. That's too bad.

[Except there's no real emotion in what he said. He's perfectly content with staying right there for a moment, simply petting Hisoka's wings and back soothingly.]

Have you stayed here long, 'Soka?

[It's desperately needed in the wake of several weeks spent feuding with his temporary-partner. Of being driven to the brink of apology and backing away at the last moment. Of losing hope that home still existed somewhere.]

Eight months. I hate it here.

[Sounds like he needs more than one hug, if you ask Tsuzuki.]

Why? What happens here?

[Nope. One will do, thanks so much.]

There's nothing to do here, except wait your turn to lie on a lab table and have scientists poke at you.

[A small shudder as Hisoka just barely holds back the emotion quietly trying to erupt.] I want to go home.

[~~And dangit I totally missed that second tag you added a little while ago oops~~. Hisoka hadn't much noticed Tsuzuki's shirtlessness until he felt the hot blush creep beneath him. At that, he pulls away completely. Stupid hugging.] ...You're right. Go get dressed.

Scientists... poke at you. [That's close to the top of his list of terribly icky things. And the fact that Hisoka talked about it as if he knew it from experience did not help on Tsuzuki's protectiveness.]

Maybe we can find a way out of here. It's not too late, you know.

[He had expected to be pushed away, so he didn't stagger when it happened. Still smiling and blushing, Tsuzuki leaned forward to ruffle Hisoka's hair quickly, but changed his mind. His knuckles stroked Hisoka's cheek gently, instead, before Tsuzuki stepped back.]

Right. Shirt. Good idea. Er, that means I have to go to one of the shops.

The village is a controlled area. I don't know if it happens because of the wings or what, but they're able to do things to us... Make us think things for a while. By the way -- be careful around Minase.

[He doesn't even object to the cheek-stroking as he pulls deeper into his spartan living space, sinks onto the bed, and pulls his knees to his chest.] I've been trying to find a way out since I got here. I'm no closer to figuring it out now than I was when I started.

The shops aren't far. We're fairly close to the center of town right now. [This is spoken the way one would talk about living close to a sewage treatment plant.]

So the wings help them control our minds for a limited time?
[Tsuzuki gave Hisoka a confused look.] Why would I have to be careful around Hijiri?

[Without hesitation, Tsuzuki follows and sits down on the floor by the bed. The hunt for a shirt can wait.] We can look together. Maybe this place is created like a trap. If so, two will have a better chance than one.

That must be difficult for your empathy. [A sigh, as he rested his back against the bed.] I suppose that means you don't want to go with me.

I don't know. We don't get told anything concrete -- just supposed to shut up and accept things as they happen.
[Hisoka counters that look with a stern face.] They've reinstated his contract.

[There's another sigh, more defeated than the last, and Hisoka's chin sinks down to rest on his knees.] Two haven't had much luck so far.

My empathy's fine -- and why should I go with you? I don't care what you wear.

Hmm. Hisoka, have you had to visit the scientists a lot? [He's clearly uncomfortable when he said this. And the next part made him raise his voice a little.] Why would they reinstate it? Wasn't it enough trouble to get it out?

[The sound made Tsuzuki lift his head to look more closely at his partner.] You've tried it with two already?

You care if I wear too little, I'm pretty sure. But if you don't care what I wear, I can just wear these pants and not bother with a shirt.
