Just how long can someone stay dead here? Draco has been gone for over a week and he still hasn't come home.

[He sighs, running his fingers through his hair. It's worrying. Hisoka won't take it well if Draco doesn't return soon, and he doesn't know how much his sensitive partner can take.]

[Already regretting he put his thoughts in the journal, he changes the subject.]

Oh, you're talking about that. I was out there, as well. I... kind of had my own close experience with it. Actually, this was more of a disease-based form of zombification than a curse-based one.

[He definitely sounds like he knows what he's talking about with that whole topic.]

Zombies? That's awful. Those are so hard to handle.

I ran into and fought quite a few, and even ended up bitten myself. They managed to develop an effective cure... [And he was in on the test group, but he's not going to go into the especially horrifying details of that experience.] ...but to my knowledge, it was unfortunately too late for quite a few people.

I didn't know there was a cure. No one in my world has found one yet.

....Did it work? You were saved, right?

Are there zombies on your world as well?

[It's always fascinating to compare zombie types, you see.]

Anyway, the cure did work, very effectively. There was... a great deal of testing involved. I'll spare the more gruesome details of that process. But a lot of us were saved by that cure.

Yes, kind of. We have some ghosts that feasts on the heads of the living, at least.

[The idea of experimenting to try to find a cure sends a chill up his spine.]

I'm glad that it wasn't done in vain. Was there any side effects?

On just the heads? [That sounds remarkably unpleasant.]

There were side effects. Imagine being stuck in a zombie body, but with your own consciousness intact... Oh, but it was all resolved in the end, of course.

I can't even imagine.

[That's a lie. He can imagine it quite clearly, and he wraps his arms around himself to stop the shudder.]

...Did the body rot while you were still in it?

More or less. Until the full-cure was developed, it was essentially... being a consciously thinking zombie.

[Nope, not a pleasant thing at all. Although he's forced himself to make notes on the experience, anyway. You just never know when you need a file on this information.]
