[It had been a pretty sucky week. Tsuzuki doesn't want to show Hisoka the letters Yuri left for them when she was sent home. He suspects his partner is taking her disappearance hard enough as it is. But what is he supposed to do?]

[The answer is to pretend there's no problem. He taps his pen on the paper as he thinks, turning to the journal eventually.]

Out of curiosity, if you could only choose one word to describe your best friend, what would it be?

What kind of strength are you thinking about` There're so many to choose from.

Inner strength, physical strength - everything. He was the one who became the demon because someone had to, and made the hard decisions because no one else would.

A demon?

[It takes a moment before he writes more on the reply. In Tsuzuki's mind, he imagines a person who kills so many people that he transforms, like the old stories used to warn about. He hopes he's wrong.]

He must have had a terrible enemy. What was he up against?

Change. One that was ripping our home apart and leaving bodies in its wake.

Especially when you are trying to stop it.

War is inevitable when two ideals clash. It will be a few years yet before it ends. As I have come to understand, we will lose.

If we could end the war simply by eliminating our enemies, that would be the best for everyone - including our country. But even if we walk a path to our own destruction, I'll stay at his side.
