[It had been a pretty sucky week. Tsuzuki doesn't want to show Hisoka the letters Yuri left for them when she was sent home. He suspects his partner is taking her disappearance hard enough as it is. But what is he supposed to do?]

[The answer is to pretend there's no problem. He taps his pen on the paper as he thinks, turning to the journal eventually.]

Out of curiosity, if you could only choose one word to describe your best friend, what would it be?

Maybe I just like the sound of your voice.

[He lightly shoves Tsuzuki's shoulder.]

Don't make this weird, okay?

[He takes the shove as the mild warning that it is intended as. In a way, it's a relief that Hisoka feels well enough to be cranky again.] Gotcha, kid.

[It comes and goes in waves. But for now, he seems as close to himself as he's managed lately. Still not at a hundred percent, but present.]

Don't call me 'kid'. I've been an adult for over a year.

[Present is good enough.]

If you act like a kid I get to call you a kid.

[But then he can't help the laugh at how they're both acting. Tsuzuki wraps his arm around Hisoka's shoulders and hugs him briefly.]

[And then there's hugging happening. And while Hisoka certainly doesn't return it, he doesn't do anything to push Tsuzuki away.]

Am not, plus infinity.

[That's good. He needs a hug now and again. And Tsuzuki is the kind of person that really likes being playful with Hisoka, so this is he best thing that could have happened to him today.]

[There's no venom behind the statement, though. Instead, he finally gets around to hugging back. Sometimes it takes a minute.]

[If this had been the old days, he would have teasing told him that he loved him, too. But those were the kind of things that Hisoka didn't seem to care for, so he rarely thought about saying that anymore.]

[The hug is still good. Tsuzuki knows better than to turn one down, especially since it might be the only hug he gets today.]

Shut up. [He nuzzles Tsuzuki slightly and then detaches himself.]

[Nuzzling is always welcome, too. Tsuzuki ruffles his hair in response.]

So what are you planning to plant in your garden?

[He really likes Hisoka's hair, for some reason he hasn't really thought too closely about.]

I don't know yet. Some daffodils for Draco and some sunflowers, at least. And I want to try to grow strawberries, but I don't know if it's the right type of soil for it.

[He smiles to himself as he thinks, turning to Hisoka after he's reflected some more.] ....We should plant flowers that attracts butterflies. That'd be nice.

[It could be the color of it. Light hair is a mark of difference. Tsuzuki thinks too much about the difference of things.]

Why would you want to draw butterflies anywhere near our house? [They're DEATH parasites.]

[It could be that, or it could be the fact that it's so soft. It's ironic that someone who tries so hard to be rough ends up with softness so easily reached.]

They help me grow my flowers. Why wouldn't I want their help? Besides, they're pretty!

Because they could kill you. [TSUZUKI WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.]

[He's going to have a word with them about tricking innocent partners into thinking horrible things. Unless it's himself, in which case: oops.]

Oh. [The conversation is slowly turning very amusing for him, and in a way he wonders if Hisoka is teasing him. He decides to play along.]

In that case, I promise not to plant flowers that attracts those kind of butterflies.

Or any kind of butterflies. I can't believe we have to have this talk.

It's a good thing we did, because I had no idea you disliked butterflies, Hisoka.
