[It had been a pretty sucky week. Tsuzuki doesn't want to show Hisoka the letters Yuri left for them when she was sent home. He suspects his partner is taking her disappearance hard enough as it is. But what is he supposed to do?]

[The answer is to pretend there's no problem. He taps his pen on the paper as he thinks, turning to the journal eventually.]

Out of curiosity, if you could only choose one word to describe your best friend, what would it be?

[Hisoka's taking it better than one might expect. Maybe it helps that she'd been absent for well over a month before he belongings vanished. It meant at least that she could stop suffering and return to what she'd been planning to do all along. Luceti was too small for someone like Yuri.]

Hey. Are you going to play with the journal all day? I thought you wanted to visit the flower shop to look for things to put in your garden.

[Even so, Tsuzuki's not going to let him go through the first few days alone, since he knows Hisoka has a tendency to bottle things up to ignore them.]

I'm coming! Is there a particular type of flower you want in our garden?

The flowers I'd want can't survive in temperatures like these. It's not nearly warm enough.

If we sow seeds, they'll be okay.

What flowers were you thinking of?

We don't have nearly enough orchids in the area. But they're so temperamental, it would take a miracle for you to make them grow.

Yeah, orchids are hard to please.

[He taps his chin.]

We might need a greenhouse.... Do you think they're hard to build?

There's one attached to the flower shop. Why don't you just use that one?

But then it won't be in our garden.

So anyway. Is there a particular reason you like orchids?

They're elegant. Don't read too much into it.

You should know what I like by now. I don't know why you keep asking.

[He lightly shoves Tsuzuki's shoulder.]

[He takes the shove as the mild warning that it is intended as. In a way, it's a relief that Hisoka feels well enough to be cranky again.] Gotcha, kid.

[It comes and goes in waves. But for now, he seems as close to himself as he's managed lately. Still not at a hundred percent, but present.]

Don't call me 'kid'. I've been an adult for over a year.

[Present is good enough.]

If you act like a kid I get to call you a kid.

[But then he can't help the laugh at how they're both acting. Tsuzuki wraps his arm around Hisoka's shoulders and hugs him briefly.]

Are too!

[And then there's hugging happening. And while Hisoka certainly doesn't return it, he doesn't do anything to push Tsuzuki away.]

Am not, plus infinity.

[That's good. He needs a hug now and again. And Tsuzuki is the kind of person that really likes being playful with Hisoka, so this is he best thing that could have happened to him today.]

[There's no venom behind the statement, though. Instead, he finally gets around to hugging back. Sometimes it takes a minute.]

[If this had been the old days, he would have teasing told him that he loved him, too. But those were the kind of things that Hisoka didn't seem to care for, so he rarely thought about saying that anymore.]

[The hug is still good. Tsuzuki knows better than to turn one down, especially since it might be the only hug he gets today.]

Shut up. [He nuzzles Tsuzuki slightly and then detaches himself.]

[Nuzzling is always welcome, too. Tsuzuki ruffles his hair in response.]
